Two years after her album About Last Night..., Mabel got into her comeback era in 2024 with her singles “Vitamins,” “Look At My Body Pt. I,” “Look At My Body Pt. II” featuring Shygirl, “Female Intuition,” “Chat,” and “Stupid Dumb.” If there’s one thing we’ve learned through the years since Mabel entered the scene, it’s that she’s not afraid to explore different sounds and genres. She’s also not afraid to collaborate with different artists. Mabel decided to start 2025 off on a strong note with new music.
Back in January, Mabel released her first single of the year “All Over You,” featuring the Ghanaian singer King Promise. The Afrobeats-infused track combines a few genres including Afrobeats, contemporary R&B, and pop. It explores themes of emotional intimacy, desire, and confidence. “All Over You” finds Mabel enjoying the feeling one tends to get when they’ve found that special someone who’s for them. She wants to live in the moment and connect emotionally with the person she’s singing to.
“Honestly, I really want the song to speak for itself. It represents my reconnection to a side of me that I haven’t explored musically in a while. I made this tune with Magicsticks in Lagos and being a fan of his work, I made the trip to him, and we had so much fun. King Promise added a beautiful layer to the track and I’m excited with how much more there is to come,” shared Mabel in a press release.
Want to know what playlists this song would be best suited for? It’s a good addition for playlists about late-night vibes, romance, or partying.
“That pillow talk is talking, please tell me some more”
Talking to your significant other about different topics is a plus in relationships. Who doesn't enjoy a good conversation with someone they care about? Mabel does. During the first verse, Mabel wastes no time cutting to the chase and telling her partner what she wants from them. She wants to be able to lie next to them and talk about what’s on their mind, including private things that should be kept behind closed doors.
“I want to lucky, lucky win some of your love
I want your jewelry, show me I'm the one you trust”
Oftentimes people feel lucky when it comes to finding someone they can connect with in different ways. She wants to feel lucky and be shown how much she means to her significant other. She wants it in several ways. We feel her when it comes to that because who doesn't want to feel like they won at choosing someone to be with?
“All over you, all over you
All over you, all over you”
The chorus, while repetitive, is hypnotic and channels how deep she is when it comes to the person she’s singing to. She wants them and only them in every possible way. Can you say mood? It’s such a mood if you ask us. Also, one can’t ignore that King Promise can be heard through the chorus.
“When I tell you say I no be Casanova
Talking is cheap, allow me
To make my actions speak much louder”
Speaking of King Promise, the singer takes over the second verse. He starts off letting it be known that he isn’t one to play games or break someone’s hearts. He’s in it for the long haul when he’s with someone. He wants it to be known that he wants to treat her right and is willing to do anything to make her feel special and know she’s the only one.
Mabel released the music video for “All Over You” the same day as the song dropped. The video takes place in a club setting where Mabel is wanting to enjoy her night surrounded by others. It gives all the energetic vibes and energy to match the song, from the dancing to everyone smiling and goofing around. The video isn’t too much or too little. It’s just right.
