Phoenix based quartet Glixen is back with one last sneak peek of their upcoming sophomore EP, coming in the form of their latest single, “all tied up”. Released on January 24, the final single from quiet pleasures, which is set to release in  February, is a promise for the future of the American shoegaze renaissance.

In an era of shorter songs, “all tied up” clocks in at just over four minutes long with not a second wasted. Aislinn Ritchie’s airy vocals guide you through the ever-present drums and bass, the guitars swirling around to complete the signature shoegaze atmosphere. The song feels all-consuming, both in tone and in lyrics. With lines like “I could stay here for a while in this beat in this rhythm of your breath” and “Nothing else exists when I’m with you,” Ritchie and guitarist Esteban Santana have penned the perfect melody to match the story their lyrics aim to tell. Ritchie notes, “‘all tied up’ is about feeling completely consumed by someone. We definitely wanted the song to feel enveloping. There’s a subtle tension that builds throughout with a push and pull between the guitars and vocals. The song hits hard with its emotional depth, yet breathes with a playful melody.”

Previous singles from quiet pleasures also help set the tone for the EP, with four songs released between February and November of last year, gearing fans both new and returning for the upcoming release. The EP goes live on February 21, digitally through AWAL and on vinyl from Witchita Recordings. Produced by Sonny DiPerri , Glixen’s sophomore EP shows their musical evolution from 2023’s She Only Said, letting the band step into everything their sound is becoming and proving that American shoegaze is here to stay.

Even after a huge 2024 playing SXSW and supporting genre mainstays like Interpol and Turnover, Glixen is gearing up for what appears to be their biggest year yet. Their first North American headlining tour is set to start just before their album release in February, where they’ll be joined by she’s green and Suzy Clue. They’ll also make appearances at festivals like Freakout Weekender and Coachella later on in the year. With such a strong start to 2025, Glixen is a band to watch as they continue taking themselves to the next level.

Check out “all tied up,” and catch Glixen at one of their tour stops early this year!
